Aisha Buhari Orders IGP To Charge Student To Court

The first lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency Aisha Buhari has ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, to charge Aminu Adamu Muhammed, a student of the Federal University, Dutse, over his post on Twitter.

The embattled student had already been arrested by the police for his post on Twitter. However, the first lady later ordered the IGP to press charges against him in the court of law.

Aminu Adamu Muhammed, on his Twitter post, accused the first lady of feeding fat on poor people’s money. The inviting and fat ostatention of the first lady had propelled him to tweet. Nonetheless, the post did not go down well with the first lady who is generally known as cool-headed.

A top police officer confided in the press on the grounds of anonymity.

“The student was taken before IGP Baba Usman today (Monday) at the Force Headquarters,” “He will be charged to court; Aisha insisted she must be taken to the court to explain how she (Aisha) embezzled money. She has given an order to the IGP that the boy must be charged to court.”

The whole issue came up during the strike when the photo of the first lady was posted on the internet. Muhammed, a final year student of the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, tweeted in Hausa “Su mama anchi kudin talkawa ankoshi” which means “Mama has eaten poor people’s money and is now full”.

Nevertheless, many Nigerians have labelled the first lady as power drunk. They stated that she should have let it go since the student was under frustration, due to the protracted ASUU strike, when he made the tweet.
