CH340 CHIP USB TO RS485 RS232 CONVERTER
Share :
The CH340 USB to RS485/RS232 converter is a versatile communication bridge designed to connect modern computing devices (which primarily use Universal Serial Bus or USB) to legacy or industrial equipment that utilizes the standard RS485 or RS232 serial protocols.
CH340 Chip: The core component of the device is the CH340 series microcontroller, typically the CH340G or similar variant. This integrated circuit acts as the USB-to-UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter) bridge. It handles the complex conversion of the computer's high-speed, packet-based USB data stream into standard serial data packets.
RS485/RS232 Transceivers: The converter includes dedicated physical layer chips (transceivers) to condition the serial signal for the target protocols.
RS232: Provides the necessary voltage level shifting (typically ±5V to ±15V) and single-ended signaling for short-distance, point-to-point connections.
RS485: Provides differential signaling (A/B lines) for robust, long-distance communication and multi-drop network configurations. The converter often features automatic data direction control (auto-direction) for RS485 to simplify implementation.
The device essentially creates a virtual COM port on the host PC, allowing standard terminal software or custom applications to communicate with industrial devices (like PLCs, meters, or networked sensors) over reliable RS485 networks or standard RS232 connections.
